Dr Tim O’Carrigan MBBS FRACS FAOrthA

Foot, Ankle & Limb Reconstruction Surgeon @Macquarie University Hospital

Dr Tim O’Carrigan performs complex minimally invasive foot and ankle surgeries using external fixation and percutaneous minimal incision surgery to correct a foot deformity as well as total ankle replacement in complex cases of severe rheumatoid arthritis. Dr O’Carrigan has dedicated over 25 years of his life learning how to relieve pain and correct deformity one patient at a time. This process started with completing a medical degree with Honours from the University of New South Wales, then obtaining an AOA Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery and was developed by a Fellowship in Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction in Baltimore USA with Drs Dror Paley and John Herzenberg, the two leading deformity surgeons in the world. It has matured by 20 years of private and public practice, education and leadership in Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction in New South Wales with an application to the wider aspects of Limb Reconstruction including Foot and Ankle Surgery and Joint Replacement.

 

Dr Mustafa Alttahir BSc (Med) MBBS FRACS FAOrthA

After arriving in Australia at 14 years of age as a refugee from Iraq, Dr Alttahir attended Fairfield High School for 3 years, before completing his MBBS at UNSW from 2003-2008. He subsequently worked in the Liverpool and St George networks as an unaccredited registrar, before completing his Australian Orthopaedic Association training in multiple training centres in NSW, and passing his fellowship exam in 2018. Dr Alttahir completed three Foot and Ankle Fellowships as well as a Lower Limb Reconstruction Fellowship at: Prince of Wales Fellowship with Dr David Lunz, Dr John Negrine, Dr Jeff Ling Macquarie University and Campbelltown Private Fellowship with Dr Tim O’Carrigan International Bone Research Association Fellowship in Basel, Switzerland with Professor Victor Valderrabano, and in Tenerife, Spain with Professor Mario Herrera-Perez Macquarie University Hospital with Professor Munjed Al Muderis, Professor Kevin Tetsworth, and Dr Tim O’Carrigan in Deformity Correction.
